Treehouse:
  • Solid wood framework outside and inside or some steel.
  • Extensive glazing for mother nature's view
  • Skylights
  • Insulation
  • Beds
  • power connections.
  • Flat screens, hi-fi systems, minibar or telephone connections can be integrated into the interior design.
  • Small bathroom.
  • Small heating system which allows a stay in colder seasons

Benefits of a treehouse:
  • Seclusion, privacy
  • Owning something not everyone can have.
  • Being a part of nature.
  • Close to Park City which has shopping and skiing and Sundance Film Festival

Materials:
  • Wood: Larch and Douglas Fir: excellent for weather resistance and colour scheme.
  • Metals, textiles, and plastics are also potential materials. We consider ecological aspects in terms of materials and energy.
  • Fast-growing bamboo for beautiful, durable flooring (teragren company sells this)
  • The surfaces in the interior and exterior can be oiled, waxed, varnished, or painted or untreated.
  • Great range of ecologically sound products.
  • Natural insulation materials such as wood finer panels, sheep wool mats, coir.
  • Solar powered?

Recycled products:
  • Recycled steel produced by the SRI (steel recycling institute) used to withstand high winds and earthquakes.
  • Plant-based Polyurethane Rigid Foam by Malama Composites made from materials such as bamboo, hemp, and kelp.
  • Used in insulation and offers high moisture and heat resistance, excellent acoustics, and protection against hold and pests.
  • Cool roofing (check companies?)
  • Recycled wood/plastic composite lumber: 50-50 combination of wood fibbers and waste plastics are more durable and less toxic than conventional treated lumber. The material is also more rigid than pure plastic lumber because the wood fibers add extra strength. More resistant to cold and rot.
  • Low-E Windows. E= emissivity, and a clear coating of metallic oxide on these windows keeps the heat inside the house in the winter and outside in the summer. Typically costs between 60-100$. REduce heating costs by 10-20 percent.

Appliances:
  • Water-saving toilet (Sterling's Rockton model of toilet = .8 galloon flush option ((sterling plumbing))
  • Composting toilet?
